Wainwright Walks

Most people with holiday homes in Cumbria know all about the Wainwright Walks – perfect for when you fancy a quiet stroll in the Lake District countryside.

The Wainwright guides describe up to 214 fells over seven volumes. They come complete with maps, illustrated diagrams, sketches and detailed descriptions. These books have been described by some as true works of art.

Completing the Wainwrights is a big challenge for anyone. However, for the owners of our lodges in Cumbria, it is made slightly easier being being so conveniently located.

Lake District Cruise

If you fancy exploring the Lakes in a bit more comfort than a kayak or a paddle-board then perhaps a cruise should be on your list of things to try. See the sights from England’s longest lake (although technically it’s a ‘Mere’) which offers a whole new perspective on the local landscape.

Cruises available range from 45mins to 3 hours and there’s also the opportunity to break your cruise and sample other local attractions too so you can make a day of it!

Go Ape in Grizedale

Enjoy the Views from the Highest Go Ape Platform at 18 metres.

The adventure play ground near Hawkshead, ‘the jewel in our crown’, has always proved a popular day out. Built on a side of a hill, it feels seriously high.

The epic Tree Top Adventure in the Lakes. While swinging through the canopy, wiping out at the bottom of zip wires and going on an adventure brings you and your family and friends together like nothing else. You can fly 200 metres across the top of the Grizedale Beck and marvel at the forest canopy – 18 metres up a magnificent Douglas Fir.
